A home from China — done safely

The savings are real. So are the risks. We remove the risks.

We visit factories and expos ourselves. Before anything ships, we check it against what your certifier and council will ask for.

Questions

How much does a granny flat cost?

It depends on size, finish and site works. Our fees are fixed (from $490 to check, from $6,500 for the full package), and the home itself is quoted direct from the factory so you see the real number. Site works and installation are quoted by a licensed builder.

Do I need council approval?

Usually yes — either a fast-track Complying Development Certificate (CDC) where your site qualifies, or a Development Application (DA). Your Granny Flat Check tells you which.

Can I rent out my granny flat?

In Queensland and NSW, yes — subject to building code requirements for a rented dwelling. Rules differ in other states; we check for your address.

Is a granny flat from China safe?

It can be, if it is checked properly. We review structure, electrical, glazing and energy compliance and arrange independent asbestos testing before it ships.

How big can my granny flat be?

It depends on your state, council and lot. In NSW, for example, CDC secondary dwellings are generally limited to 60 m². We confirm the limit for your block.

How long does it take?

Check in 48 hours. Approval typically takes weeks (CDC) to months (DA). Factory build and shipping run in parallel where possible.
